INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE CONSULTATIONS

Integrative Medicine combines therapeutic approaches from both a traditional medical perspective as well as from complementary and alternative perspectives. The goal is to achieve optimal health and healing utilizing the body’s innate abilities. The plan, and hope, is to use natural, effective, less invasive interventions whenever possible, with the understanding that both conventional medicine and alternative therapies both play an important role in healing. The consultation will include a comprehensive look at your medical conditions, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects that make you a complete person.

The consultation will begin with a comprehensive history of your medical conditions and complaints. Your medical records and treatments will be reviewed. Your medications and dietary supplements and vitamins will be reviewed. Your lifestyles, habits, and dietary history will be recorded. Your spiritual interests and beliefs will be explored. An appropriate physical examination will be conducted by the doctor. Past laboratory data will be reviewed, and appropriate new laboratory studies will be ordered.

Dr. Papadopoulos will then devise a full diagnostic evaluation with comprehensive, integrative therapeutic plans for your problems. Furthermore, broader concepts of promotion of health and the prevention of illness will also be discussed and recommended. The recommended therapies may include medications, botanical products, vitamins and other supplements, and dietary interventions. These therapies, too, may be recommended: lifestyle choices, mind-body therapies, spiritual discussions and therapies, acupuncture, physical and occupational therapy, yoga, Qi-Gong, chiropractic, osteopathic, and other complementary and alternative therapies felt to be beneficial.

Dr. Papadopoulos will not be providing ongoing, continuous primary care for you. You will be expected to continue doctor-patient relationships with your chosen medical providers including your primary care provider. Dr. Papadopoulos will not be prescribing narcotics or other controlled substances.
